About Us
IS ANY HOTEL A MATCH FOR THE EPIC SCALE OF GLENCOE?
The legendary Kingshouse hospitality is your first clue that it might – just might – be possible.
Our crackling fires thaw the coldest of bones – with a little help from locally sourced food, beers and single malts. All served with views to tempt even the weariest to proclaim themselves ready to do it all again the next day.
It's all about the views - every room has one - when you're in Glencoe, it's impossible not to. Newly refurbished, the hotel sits like an Alpine retreat. Big windows and views from the bar and restaurant, or corrie round the fireplace in the Way Inn bar, situated in the 1752 coaching inn building. There's also a bunkhouse, and we're right on the west highland way, do drop in for a pint.
All 57 new bedrooms in the hotel have been finished to a high spec and have something to suit most tastes and budgets. There is a choice of various room types available to you when making a booking. We also have our bunkhouse for those, hill walkers, climbers or backpackers looking for somewhere simple to lay their head for the night that won't break the bank. Please note, as the Bunkhouse is a shared sleeping accommodation, dogs are not permitted to stay.
THE STORY SO FAR
“A welcome 250 years in the making”
A place of refuge since the 1750’s, the Kingshouse Hotel has been a stop off for weary travellers for centuries. Warm fires, warm welcome and a wee nip to warm through guests.
In recent times, the hotel had become a little weary itself. It was time to spruce up a little and plans started to bring accommodation worthy of the location into the glen. In 2017, the bunkhouse was rebuilt offering new and upgraded rooms for walkers and climbers to put their head down and early 2018, the construction of the new hotel wing started, after the removal of the 1960s extension to the hotel.
We re-opened in February 2019, with room and restaurant bookings available. The “Way Inn”, the traditional walkers’ bar has been located in the original Kingshouse building, reinstating it as a place to recharge and refuel for those enjoying the outdoors, or walking the West Highland Way.
We look forward to welcoming guests old and new.
