Policies
Check-in We live on-site in the farmhouse, if you book with us we will be here to welcome you on your day of arrival, check-in is from 3pm. We have a long drive up to the house if you just pull into the courtyard we will be pottering about or if you don't see us ring the bell at reception, our contact numbers are on the window at reception and if we are for some reason not available we have a resident caretaker who can look after you. The cottages are all accessible from our courtyard. In the colder weather, we will make sure the fire is lit and the cottage is all cosy ready for you. If you need shopping/holiday goodies, the local Tesco and Asda deliver so order online and if it arrives before you do we can make sure the beer is in the fridge :) Or if you have a specific request eg champagne/flowers/surprise/ let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.
Cancellation - If for any reason you need to cancel, you can give a full 48 hours notice and receive a full refund. After 48 hours, one-nights accommodation would be charged.

About Us
A warm welcome to Sunflower Cottage, perfect for a solo traveller wanting to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the beautiful countryside or a break for two persons. Previously a farm worker’s home, this beautiful dog-friendly cottage has now been tastefully converted into a snug and comfortable holiday home which has all modern feature whilst preserving the ambience of days gone by.
Sunflower Cottage has one bedroom, with twin beds, bathroom with walk-in shower, an open plan kitchen/diner and lounge with a cosy log burner. Outside is a private walled garden patio complete with garden furniture where you can relax with a wee dram. The Cottage is a short walk from the river Deveron and is less than 15 minutes from some of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland.
In addition, you will have the welcoming benefit of having 11 acres of Devron Valley Cottages land in roam freely on. Lovely walks in the beautiful fresh Scottish air and surprises of nature await you.

We are still discovering little gems ourselves, but at the moment our favourite places to see are Portsoy and the wonderful Portsoy Ice Cream Shop, Cullen with its many quirky antique shops, Sandend Beach where 'surfs up' even in the winter and dogs are allowed all year round, our local village Aberchirder (know locally as Foggie) has a wonderful family pub with a delicious home-cooked menu most nights (it is advisable to book in advance) We are also on the 'Whiskey and Castle Trails' ( nearest being Fyvie Castle and Glendronah Distillery).
There are also guides available to fascinating Pictish standing stones and ancient stone circles which seem to pop up everywhere, we have visited a few but the Nearest is the Rothiemay stone circle which is just a few miles away. A little further afield is the hauntingly beautiful and remote Cabrach Region where you can explore the reindeer park, ski school and visitor centre. we always ask our guests if they find something interesting to tell us so we can go explore too.

We are big dog lovers and your furry friends are welcome here too! Each of our properties has doggy towels, blankets, bowls, treats and beds. There are some lovely walks in our area and nearby dog-friendly beaches. During the summer we do have sheep on our land so it would be wise to keep them on a lead while walking past the fields. Otherwise, there is plenty of room to roam, 11 acres in total!
We are situated on the river Deveron and have our own woodland walks to explore! There is a local pub in the village that welcome dogs and as a bonus do some great home-cooked food. We are close to Portsoy, Banff, Sandend and Cullen, our beautiful coastline is a joy to explore. We have laundry available for drying clothes/towels/dog coats etc.
